Reflection at the Temple of Literature

As part of the outbound mobility experience to Vietnam students are required to complete a personal reflection of their time in Vietnam.  To get the students thinking about their own reflection we visit the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, the oldest university in Vietnam.  Students hear of how every three years for over a thousand years a small group of students from across Vietnam were selected to study at the temple, some having travelled thousands of kilometres by foot just to take the examination.

Having heard these stories we then ask the students to take 45 minutes to sit by themselves in the grounds of the temple and work on their reflection.  For many this will be the first time that they will have spent time alone with their thoughts during a busy tour and what better place to do it than a temple that has a history of scholars travelling long distances.

Beside all of that, it is just a cool place to work on an assessment.
