The first activity for our first day on the study tour experience is to participate in a half day city tour of Saigon which allows students to learn about the history and culture of the city.
Our guide Phoung gave the students a great insight into the modern history of Vietnam and with much fan waving as the students acclimatised to the humidity.
Through the morning students the Post office, Notre Dame cathedral and the Presidents Palace. We also took time to visit the War Remnants Museum at took time for some personal reflection.
The final stop was the markets at which point the students were set free to shop, with many of them seen later that afternoon returning to the hotel what will eventually become known as ‘excess baggage’ or $12 per kilo.
