In the media we often hear discussions about poor crowd attendance at game days. Given the increased access to a wide range of sport through subscription TV and access to coverage on mobile devices this is possibly not of surprising. For the 2014 Commonwealth Games an organisation named Stackla set themselves an ambitious goal;
“They wanted to immerse the fans around the world into the action, before, during, and after the Games and harness the excitement across all their digital channels.
To achieve that vision, Stackla was used to aggregate official, competitor, and fan content from multiple channels including Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, and Flickr”.
Websites, blogs. mobile apps, # tags and social walls within stadiums are but some of the ways in which they went about immersing fans, see the Stackla website to find out more about how they did it….
